The Internship Program of The Hemsley Lighting Programs is pleased to announce the acceptance of applications for the annual Internship Program with the New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, and the Lincoln Center Festival. Applications are received each year from January 1st through February 15th. Interviews for finalists are held in New York City, usually late March or early April, in conjunction with the Hemsley Lighting Portfolio Review. Candidates should submit a resume, a one-page statement of personal goals and anticipated benefits from the internship, and three letters of recommendation. The selected intern begins in June and continues until the end of February. The program includes experience with the Lincoln Center International Arts Festival, New York City Opera, and the New York City Ballet, as well as additional opportunities outside of Lincoln Center.

Gilbert Hemsley dedicated his life to the training of yound theater professionals. Beginning with the first intern in 1984, the Internship has continued his legacy by offering a unique experience to young designers. Additional opportunities may include touring and media events. A monthly stipend of $1,750 is provided in addition to travel expenses.
